British Don’t Take Eurovision Seriously Enough!

According to Eurovision director Bjorn Erichsen. And Terry Wogan is part of the problem.

Does he not realise that the reason we don’t take Eurovision seriously is because it is rubbish. Only Terry Wogan’s sarcastic commentary makes it worth watching at all, with plenty of beers and a heavy dose of post-modern ‘so bad it’s good’ irony (of which I am not usually a fan).

Still if Wogan has to leave Eurovision, maybe he can comment on European politics. We don’t take that seriously either in this country, but if Wogan actually got us to pay attention we might learn something about it. And realise, unlike the harmless Eurovision, we are better off out.
