All Aboard the Atheist Bus

It seems a jokey aside by the Guardian’s Ariane Sherine has lead to a huge national campaign.

As you can read here from the woman herself a fund has been set up to buy advertising on the side of London buses, as a response to masses of religious advertising. The message is:

There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life

The target was £5,500 which Richard Dawkins promised to match. However they have currently reached £50,796! After approximately one day. Luckily for Dawkins he only has to match the first £5,500. The amount raised can be seen here.

Looks like there’s more generous atheists out there than the few hundred CIF readers I might have expected. I have to say I am not one of the contributors, despite being a strong atheist, and mildly amused by the idea, I don’t think its enough to spend my money on. Also it’s being organised by the British Humanist Association, whose head is Polly Toynbee, which is enough to put me off.

Makes you wonder though, how a little campaign, and a lot of people just giving a tenner (including one Jesus Christ, damn rebellious teenagers, no respect for their parents) can raise a decent amount of money in a short space of time, and gain plenty of publicity. I think you get about 30 London buses for four weeks for £11,000, but the craziness of the idea has got press coverage now from at least the Guardian and Beeb, and can expect more again when the adverts go out, spreading the message even further.

So, any ideas what message you would put on a London bus, given about 10-15 words?
