What England Means to Them – £116

That is the amount spent by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on promoting St George’s day this year. A similar amount was spent in 2007 when they started flying the flag of St George (is that where all the money went?). Nothing was spent before that.

It would be interesting to know how much was spent by both central government and the devolved authorities on promoting Saints David’s, Patrick’s and Andrew’s Days. And how much promoting Eid, Diwali, Hannukah, Black history month etc. And of course how much more is planned to be spent on Gordon’s Britishness day.
