Scottish Referendum has Labour Support

Wendy Alexander has backed an SNP referendum on Scottish independence, claiming she would win. Despite the ‘Wendy Commission’ devolution review refusing to have independence as an option in its remit, Alexander has attacked the SNP for their failure to produce a referendum bill.

There is a suggestion that she has spoken out now because Gordon Brown is weak, and she is no longer towing his Britishness line. But Gordon being weak may act in favour of the SNP, as it may reduce turn out amongst Labour supporters, even if not actively turning them into pro-independence votes.

Good luck Alex Salmond and friends!
