St George’s Day Parade Manchester – Photos

Manchester went ahead with a parade today for St George’s Day (which is of course actually on Wednesday). It was appropriately English weather, grey and drizzly, which won’t have helped turn out, and neither will the lack of advertising. Maybe I missed it, but I had to search on the internet quite hard to find the details. There were plenty of floats, and police clearing the roads, so given that effort I was surprised there weren’t a few posters around before hand.

All in all enjoyable though, always nice to see people celebrating being English. A variety of floats, with people in fancy dress, various bands (including TWO Scottish pipe bands!) and dancers. The highlight was the organiser, Henry VIII, who lead the parade along with Queen Victoria, and the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Manchester.

Anyway, here are a few images from the day.

Now is the the sort of thing where the CEP should be handing out leaflets or even havnig a float? Maybe I should think about that for next year.
