John Redwood – People Want More Countries

This article on Kosovo at John Redwood’s Diary points to a trend away from multi-national states and says we should have more countries. It praises the idea of states being decided by identity. It fails however to follow this through to its logical conclusion as John says

As a supporter of the Union of the UK I know the government needs to do more to engage people in seeing why it has worked in the past and making them feel it is fair today.

although he at least recognises growing English nationalism (and unlike many politicians doesn’t instinctively paint this as a bad thing). Well just one point Mr Redwood, the best way of making people feel the Union is fair, is to actually make it fair. And the best way to do that is an English Parliament.
