England Under Threat

from rising prices of tea and beer. The two staple drinks of England (and to be fair the rest of Britain) could see massive price increases. Tea is under threat of the political instability (and riots and murder) in Kenya. Beer suffers rising malted barley prices. Pints could rise to a cost of £4!

What can we possibly do without these two drinks, one for the day, one for the evening? I predict nothing will change and people will just be a little poorer and save elsewhere. I certainly hope it is cappuccino and croissants that are abandoned, rather than the cuppa and the pint.

After all, Professor Alan Macfarlane has proposed that Tea and Beer made Britain Great.
