Domesday Book Goes Online

Yes the famous document is now searchable online here. This amazingly important historical document is finally available – allegedly. I found it mostly ‘under construction’, you would think they would have finished it before advertising to all the papers. Also it is a translation, it would have been good to have the original, perhaps even pictures of an original document to compare to.

Anyway despite that, it is good to see important documents in the history of England available for people to see. No doubt Britishness Brown will be confused that neither his native Scotland nor Wales are included. After all it is a document after his own heart. No doubt Norman overlord William the Bastard’s plan for a database of the whole country in order to help him control and, most importantly, tax everyone is right up Brown’s street.
