The Guardian has this report from inside the workings of the EU. It’s quite revealing from the normally pro-EU Guardian. It’s quite long, but at the start it covers the (ridiculous) workings of the EU parliament (that’s the democratic part). Here MEPs can speak for up to 90 seconds, and much as I am for politicians talking less it’s hardly long enough to make a point. It really emphasises the undemocratic and deliberatelay evasive nature of the EU.
The EU spent £14.4 million on a study into how to save money!
If you make i further down, it mentions eurosceptic Tory MEP Daniel Hannan. So I’ll take the oppurtunity to recommend his Telegraph Blog, an inside view of the EU from an anti-EU perspective.
It’s all very well wanting England to have a parliament apart from Westminster, but around 70% of legislation comes from the EU, so it’s something we should all be aware of.
